POD XT Project Part 2
Getting Started With The POD XT
As I mentioned before, the model that I bought was the Pod XT Live, which is just basically the floorboard model of the Pod XT bean version. So I pull the Pod XT out of the box and it looks like this:

I must admit, when I first started looking at this I had no clue where to start. So I pulled out the manual. This manual is great first off. I suggest that you read the whole thing before you even take a shot at it.
Now an overview of the Pod XT Live:
If you look on the back of the Pod XT Live then you will see a bunch of buttons, and inputs. I'll list and explain what each of these do. Starting from the right:
1. Power: Turns the power on and off.
2. USB: This is how you plug the POD XT Live into your computer.
3. Variax: Input used for Variax guitars
4. MIDI:You can plug your POD XT into your midi controllers
5. Phones: You can connect your headphones into this jack and listen to it from there.
6. Output to Amp/Line: This is the connector that you use to connect to your amp or recording equipment.
7. AUX Input: You can connect a CD player, MP3, or other devices into here to jam along with.
8. Input: This is where you plug your guitar into
9. Pedal 2: You can use this for a standard expression pedal.
Now that's the basics for the back of the POD XT Live. Now let's look at the floorboard itself.

1. Display: Display of current setting. Also selection knob, effect tweak, output mode, edit, and save buttons
2. Banks: For every bank you can store 4 different tones.
3. Bank Tones: Use A, B, C, and D to store different tones.
4. Amp: Used to turn the amp model on or off.
5. Stomp: Used to turn the current stomp box on or off.
6. MOD: Used to turn the current MOD on or off.
7. Delay: Used to turn the current delay setting on or off.
8. Expression Pedal: Used as an expression pedal for both volume and wah (to switch from wah to volume press the pedal to the floor until it clicks).
9. Tap: Switch from pedalboard to tuner.
10. Amp Tone Controls: Knobs to control drive, bass, mid, treble presence, and channel volume of the current tone.
Now you should have a pretty good basic understanding of the Pod XT Live. It's fairly simple once you get a good understanding of it. In the next part we'll be discussing how to set your Pod XT Live into your combo amp.
