Connecting To The Computer

Once you plug the Pod XT Live into the computer using usb you should hear a noise from your computer, or a little icon saying a new device is detected. The next step is installing the drivers and software that is needed.

First you need to go here:

The two things you want to download are the drivers and the software to do all the configurations from. If you want to keep up to date with all the updates download Line 6 Monkey too. For all the configurations of the Pod XT you can choose the GuitarPort or Line 6 Edit. I like GuitarPort so in this project we'll be using GuitarPort. They do the same thing, it's just a matter of preference.

Once you download these, install them. Once GuitarPort is installed open it (make sure the PodXT is connected or it will say that it cannot find a device). Once it's opened you should see a screen like this.

You'll get very familiar with it once you start playing around with the settings and discovering new features. In the next part we'll go through all the details.
